Description

Brimonidine Tartrate Ophthalmic Solution 0.2% is a prescription eye medication that may be prescribed by veterinarians to help lower elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). Brimonidine is classified as a relatively selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist.

The medication works by decreasing the production of aqueous humor within the eye while also increasing uveoscleral outflow. Together, these actions help lower pressure within the eye.

When prescribed for an animal, Brimonidine should be administered exactly according to the veterinarian's directions. Do not change the dose or frequency without consulting the prescribing veterinarian.

Indications

Ingredients

Active Ingredients:

Brimonidine Tartrate 0.2% (2 mg/mL)

Inactive Ingredients:

• Benzalkonium Chloride 0.005% as a preservative / Citric Acid / Polyvinyl Alcohol / Sodium Chloride / Sodium Citrate / Water for Injection / Hydrochloric Acid and/or Sodium Hydroxide may be added to adjust pH

Directions

For topical ophthalmic use.

Administer Brimonidine Tartrate Ophthalmic Solution exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian.

Wash hands before administration. Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye, eyelids, fingers, or other surfaces to help prevent contamination.

If more than one topical ophthalmic medication has been prescribed, administer the products at least 5 minutes apart, unless otherwise directed by your veterinarian.

Replace the cap securely after each use.

Weight / Dosage

Dosage is determined by the prescribing veterinarian based on the animal's individual needs and response to therapy.

Cautions

• Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian when prescribed for animals.

Storage

Store at controlled room temperature. Current brimonidine 0.2% ophthalmic labels specify storage within approximately 59°F to 77°F (15°C to 25°C) or 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C) depending on manufacturer. Keep the bottle tightly closed and protected from contamination.

Disposal

Dispose of unused or expired medication according to applicable local requirements. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the packaging.
