Advantage Multi for Cats

Description

Advantage Multi® for Cats is a monthly prescription topical that combines imidacloprid and moxidectin to provide broad-spectrum parasite protection. It prevents heartworm disease, kills adult fleas, treats flea infestations, and treats and controls ear mites, hookworms, and roundworms.

Available in weight-specific applicators, Advantage Multi provides convenient once-monthly protection for cats and kittens 9 weeks of age and older weighing at least 2 pounds.

How It Works

Advantage Multi® combines two active ingredients:

Imidacloprid kills adult fleas through contact, so fleas do not have to bite your cat.
Moxidectin helps prevent heartworm disease and treats susceptible intestinal parasites and ear mites.

Together, they provide broad-spectrum monthly parasite protection.

Indications

Advantage Multi® for Cats is indicated for:

• Prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis
• Treatment of flea infestations
• Killing adult fleas
• Treatment and control of ear mite infestations
• Treatment and control of hookworms (Ancylostoma tubaeforme)
• Treatment and control of roundworms (Toxocara cati)

For cats and kittens 9 weeks of age and older weighing at least 2 lbs.

Ingredients

Active Ingredients:

Imidacloprid – 10%
Moxidectin – 1%

Inactive Ingredients:

Contains proprietary inactive ingredients that aid in topical application and distribution across the skin.

Refer to the manufacturer's package insert for complete ingredient information.

Directions

Use only as directed by your veterinarian.

Remove one applicator tube from the package.
Hold the tube upright and remove the cap.
Part the hair at the base of the skull until the skin is visible.
Apply the entire contents directly to the skin in one spot.

Apply once every 30 days for continuous protection.

Prevent children and other pets from contacting the application site until it is dry.

Use only the applicator intended for your cat's weight. Do not split tubes between animals.

Cautions

Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
For topical use on cats only.
Do not use on kittens under 9 weeks of age or cats weighing less than 2 lbs.
Do not administer orally.
Keep out of reach of children.
Avoid contact with eyes and mouth.

Possible Side Effects

Some cats may experience:

• Temporary hair loss or irritation at the application site
• Itching
• Greasy hair
• Lethargy
• Decreased appetite
• Salivation if the product is licked
• Vomiting (occasionally)

Contact your veterinarian if signs are severe or persistent.

Precautions

Cats should be tested for existing heartworm infection before beginning prevention.
Apply only to intact skin.
Prevent treated cats from grooming one another until the application site is dry.
Consult your veterinarian before use in breeding, pregnant, or nursing cats.
Apply monthly for continuous protection.

Storage

Store at room temperature. Keep applicators in the original package until use. Protect from excessive heat and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
