4 Tips for Summer Pet Safety

Preparing yourself and your pet for the summer is very important during this season. This includes ensuring their safety and comfort during these months.

1. Make Sure Your Pet is Always Hydrated

It is important that your pet always has access to fresh and cool water. Some signs to lookout for include: excessive panting, loss of appetite, lethargy, and vomiting/diarrhea.

2. Avoid Hot Surfaces

Paws are very sensitive and can be easily burned by hot pavement and sand. You can test the pavement or sand by touching it with your hand. If it is too hot for you, it is too hot for their paws.

3. Recognize the Signs of Overheating

4. Provide Shade and Rest Time

Pets deserve to be able to play outside, but it is important for them to have access to shaded areas when outdoors. Allowing them indoors allows them to cool down a lot faster.
