Description

Cydectin (Moxidectin) Pour-On is an FDA-approved topical antiparasitic for beef and dairy cattle. It is indicated for the treatment of infections and infestations caused by a broad range of internal and external parasites, including gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, cattle grubs, lice, mites, and horn flies.

Moxidectin belongs to the macrocyclic lactone class of antiparasitic medications. The pour-on formulation is applied along the animal's back, where moxidectin is absorbed through the skin and distributed throughout the body.

How It Works

Moxidectin is an endectocide in the milbemycin chemical class and belongs to the macrocyclic lactone family of antiparasitic medications.

After topical application, moxidectin is absorbed through the skin and distributed internally. It binds selectively to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels that are important to nerve and muscle function in susceptible invertebrate parasites. This increases chloride ion permeability, resulting in paralysis and death of the parasite.

Directions

For topical use on beef and dairy cattle only.

Apply 1 mL per 22 pounds of body weight along the midline of the back from the withers to the tailhead.

Accurately determine body weight before treatment to ensure proper dosing. Apply directly to the skin according to label directions.

Consult a veterinarian for assistance in the diagnosis, treatment, and control of parasitism. If animals are likely to become reinfected following treatment, establish an appropriate strategic parasite control program.

Cautions
