Potassium Gluconate.

RenaKare is a potassium supplement and is indicated for use in potassium deficient states in cats and dogs.

Ingredients
Each tablet contains:
Potassium gluconate USP......................2 mEq (468 mg)

Each gram (powder) contains:
Postassium gluconate USP....................2 mEq (468 mg)

Each 2.34 grams (gel) contains:
Postassium gluconate USP....................2 mEq (468 mg)

Dosage & Administration

The recommended dosage for adult cats and dogs is:
Tablets: 1 tablet per 10 lbs of body weight, twice daily.
Powder: ¼ teaspoon per 10 lbs of body weight, twice daily.
Gel: ½ teaspoon per 10 lbs of body weight, twice daily.

Each 1/2 teaspoon (2.34 g) contains (minimum):

Potassium gluconate

2 mEq (468 mg)

In a palatable base

Dosage:

Adult cats and dogs

2 mEq/4.5 kg (1/2 tsp/10 lb) PO BID

Kittens and puppies

Consult veterinarian

Administer with food. Gel is highly palatable. Place small amount on animal’s nose or in mouth to initiate interest. Place gel on food or on animal’s paw thereafter. Dosage may be adjusted as necessary by the veterinarian.

Indications:

For use as a potassium supplement in hypokalemic cats and dogs.

Warnings:

May cause hyperkalemia. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Frequent patient monitoring is advised. Adverse effects include gastrointestinal irritation, muscular weakness, twitching, irritability, and cardiac conduction disturbances. Potassium salts are contraindicated in animals with hyperkalemia, severe renal impairment or failure, severe hemolytic reactions, Addison’s disease, decreased gastrointestinal motility, and acute dehydration.

Precaution:

Use with caution in animals receiving digoxin, potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and NSAIDs.

Store in a dry place at controlled room temperature 15°-30°C (59°-86°F). Keep container tightly closed.

Each tablet contains a minimum:

Potassium Gluconate

2 mEq (468 mg)

Dosage:

The suggested dosage of RenaKare for adult cats and dogs is one (1) tablet per 10 lb (4.5 kg) body weight twice daily. Dosage may be adjusted to satisfy patient's need.

Store tightly closed container in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 35°C (95°F).

Indications:

For use as a supplement in potassium deficient states in cats and dogs.

Warning:

Do not administer in diseases where high potassium levels may be encountered, such as severe renal insufficiency or adrenal insufficiency.

Precaution:

Use with caution in the presence of cardiac disease, particularly in digitalized patients or in the presence of renal disease.
