A prescription oral antibiotic suspension containing amoxicillin, a penicillin-class medication designed to help treat bacterial infections. Each 5 mL of the reconstituted liquid delivers 250 mg of amoxicillin, and the 80 mL bottle is easy to dose for patients who require a liquid form. Amoxicillin works by stopping the growth of susceptible bacteria and is commonly used for infections of the ear, throat, respiratory tract, urinary tract, and skin when caused by bacteria. Shake well before use and take exactly as directed by a healthcare provider.
Precautions
Anaphylactic reactions: Serious and, in rare cases, fatal anaphylactic reactions have been reported with penicillin therapy, including amoxicillin. Discontinue amoxicillin immediately if an allergic reaction occurs. (5.1)
Severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCAR): Severe skin reactions have been reported. Patients should be monitored closely, and amoxicillin should be discontinued if a rash develops or worsens. (5.2)
Drug-induced enterocolitis syndrome (DIES): Cases of drug-induced enterocolitis syndrome have been reported with amoxicillin use. If symptoms occur, discontinue amoxicillin and initiate appropriate medical management. (5.3)
Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD): CDAD has been reported with antibacterial use and may range from mild diarrhea to fatal colitis. Evaluate patients who develop diarrhea during or after treatment. (5.4)
