Description

Rattlesnake Vaccine is a canine vaccine for the prevention of mortality due to intoxication with Crotalus Atrox (western diamondback rattlesnake) Toxoid. 

Rattlesnake Vaccine for Dogs is intended for use in healthy dogs as an aid in the reduction of morbidity and mortality due to intoxication with Crotalus atrox toxin. Two doses are recommended, spaced one month apart, with an annual booster given in the spring or approximately one month prior to taking the dog into rattlesnake habitat. Each dose is 1 cc, given subcutaneously. Deposit the vaccine fully below the subcutaneous fat.

    • The vaccine is cross-protective against the venom of several other types of rattlesnakes found in California
    • Produced from inactivated Crotalus atrox venom combined with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant and thimerosal as preservative
    • Packaged in 1 cc single dose vials
    • 2 doses are recommended, spaced 1 month apart, with an annual booster given in the spring or approximately 1 month prior to taking the dogs into rattlesnake habitat
    • Subcutaneous injection

Administration

It should be under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Occasionally, swelling may occur at the injection site. In some cases, medium to large seromas or sterile abscesses may develop. Rarely, anaphylactic or other adverse systemic reactions may occur. If adverse systemic reactions occur, appropriate therapy with epinephrine or other anti-anaphylactic drugs should be instituted immediately.

Keep refrigerated at 35-45°F. Do not freeze. Shake well before using.
