 is used in veterinary medicine to treat dogs with Cushing's disease.

Lysodren can be best described as an adrenal cytotoxic agent, but it can cause adrenal inhibition, without cellular destruction. 

Lysodren works to suppress adrenal gland function by eroding the top layers of the adrenal gland that produce corticosteroid hormones, thereby reducing the production of cortisol. 

Dosage and Administration: Give this medication exactly as directed by your veterinarian. If you do not understand the directions, ask your pharmacist or veterinarian to explain them to you. Your veterinarian will determine the exact dose to be given for the loading phase, and then the maintenance phase. The veterinarian may prescribe glucocorticoids such as prednisone for use in stressful situations such as travel, surgery, or illness. Store this medication at room temperature and protect from light. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.  

If you miss giving a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and give the next one as directed. Do not give a double dose of the medication. 

If an overdose occurs, contact your vet or your vet's emergency room. Overdose of Lysodren can result in Addison't disease, which can be life threatening. Symptoms of this disease may include: loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, depression and/or drowsiness. 

Side effects that may occur when using Lysodren may include: loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Talk to your vet about any side effects that seems unusual or bothersome to your pet. 

**Always wear disposable gloves when giving Lysodren to your pet. If the tablet comes in contact with skin, what throughly. Pregnant women, or women trying to get pregnant should not handle this medication.**

Discuss with your veterinarian if your pet has ever had an allergic reaction to Lysodren. Tell your veterinarian if your pet is pregnant, lactating, or has kidney or liver disease.
